Consider this: you’re at your work station and decide to take a short break. As you walk away, your PC “locks” itself effortlessly, making it impossible for anyone to access it. When you return, the PC “unlocks” automatically, and returns to the screen you were busy with. Your proximity to the PC activates and deactivates this security system, nothing else. What could be easier?

DISC ICE™
is enabled by RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)
technology, where a RFID tag (DISC ICE key) and dongle
(DISC ICE™ Lock) interact wirelessly to provide
various levels of data protection and access control
on a machine. The DISC ICE™ Lock is inserted in
the USB port of the PC and the DISC ICE™ Key is
carried by the user. These two components are matching
and unique, so the PC cannot be accessed by anyone that
does not have the correct corresponding lock and key.
As a result, the data on the machine is completely protected,
even if the machine is stolen, because the hard drive
cannot be accessed without the DISK ICE™ Key -
even by the most skilled hacker! |
|
 |
The supporting
software is user friendly and flexible, and can be customised
to suit your needs by offering several levels of command
and access management options which are easily and conveniently
controlled. Just as easy is the installation and loading
of this permanent software. |
DISC
ICE™ operates within a specified range of approximately
2 to 3 meters by locking your PC when the DISC ICE™
Key is out of the Lock’s range, and turning your
computer back on when it is back within range. In the
same way, an additional RFID tag, similar to the DISC
ICE™ Key, is used as an added security feature.
This tag functions as a “Location Monitor”
or “Location Key”, and is secretly hidden
within the vicinity of the PC. Should the Lock not come
in range with both the Key and the Location Monitor
within a certain time frame, the PC will be locked,
irrespective of where it is. This time frame feature
is installed by you or the functional manager of the
PC. |
|
In this
instance, should a user need to take their notebook
home at the end of each day, the functional manager
can set a time limit for which the notebook can be away
from the office. If the notebook’s DISC ICE™
Lock does not come in range of the Location Key within
that specified period, the machine will lock up, even
though the user has the DISC ICE™ Key. This machine
will, for all intents and purposes, become redundant.
For computers not taken off site, there could be a 5
minute time limit to further protect data. |
